February 5: Super Tuesday
Twenty-four states will hold primaries on February 5, with a large number of party delegates up for grabs for Democrats and Republicans. Populous states such as California, Illinois, New Jersey, and New York could go a long way in determining which candidate will win their party’s nomination. For example, California has 170 and 370 Republican and Democratic delegates, respectively. Those totals represent 14% and 18% of the total needed to win each party’s nomination. Going into Tuesday, Hillary Clinton leads Barack Obama 232 delegates to 158. John McCain leads for the Republicans, with 97 delegates to 92 for Mitt Romney and 29 for Mike Huckabee.

The order is directed at earmarks that are included in report language, rather than those specifically voted on by Congress.
