 WILPF Celebrates International Women’s Day!
Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom honors International
Women’s Day by shedding light on women’s work to create a culture of peace.
Internationally, we host a seminar in Geneva on disarmament, peace, and
security. Locally, many of our branches host community gatherings to
celebrate women and increase public awareness of the need for women’s equal
participation in all decision-making processes.
"It is not simply that women have the right to participate as equals. It is
also that without women’s participation and empowerment and without gender
equality, sustainable peace, sustainable development and true human security
are unattainable."

Support Debt Cancellation for Haiti
Representatives Maxine Waters (D-CA) and Spencer Bachus (R-AL) are gathering

expedite the cancellation of Haiti’s debts to the World Bank, the
Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and other multilateral financial
institutions, and 2) urge an immediate suspension of debt service payments
from Haiti. Call your Congress person and urge her to support debt
cancellation for Haiti. A sample phone script is here. For more information
