Have you seen Congress’s spine?

Dear Friend,

When will Congress find their spine? They voted for more money for
war, they passed the FISA bill, dangerously eroding our privacy, and
now they’re coming out with more legislation to increase the
likelihood of war with Iran!

Thankfully, the people have a spine, and we will continue to stand
up, tall and strong and graceful, against war and injustice. Thanks
to you, we raised tens of thousands of dollars for refugees. Thanks
to you, we now have 32 mayors signed on to our Diplomacy with Iran
Resolution. We’re going for 100 by September, so please

call your mayor today and ask her or him to sign on-find their

and the resolution here
and learn more about the resolution from Medea’s most recent
article, "U.S. Mayors Step into Iran Fray Calling for Diplomacy, Not
War"
Now we need to stand up against HR 362, introduced by Congressman
Gary Ackerman. The bill asks President Bush to "initiate an
international effort" to impose a land, sea, and air blockade on
Iran to prevent it from importing gasoline, and to inspect all cargo
entering or leaving Iran-actions tantamount to declaring war with
Iran.
Call your Congressperson today (202.224.3121) and urge her or him to
vote NO on HR 362.
Call Congressman Ackerman (202.225.2601) and urge him to withdraw
the resolution and promote diplomacy, not war.

You might also consider becoming a citizen diplomat by joining our
sister organization, Global Exchange, on a people-to-people trip to
Iran from October 10-24.

Peace takes courage. Thank you for showing Washington what a spine
looks like!

P.S. While you would not have heard it from the corporate media,
CODEPINK has been protesting the war vote for the past few weeks
with creative actions. One of our young activists, Jason Ortiz,
dropped $165 dollar bills (for the $165 billion) bloodied with red
paint onto the floor of the House during the vote, shouting "Here,
Congress, is your blood money." He was arrested and faces charges of
disrupting Congress, but is proud to have disrupted such a
despicable vote. We’re so proud of Jason!

P.P.S. Get your CODEPINK ringtone now! You can get Emma Revolution’s
CODEPINK song as your ringer and start putting your cellphone where
your progressive values are. CODEPINK encourages you to switch to
CREDO Mobile, a phone company that lets you voice your beliefs with
every call. By donating a portion of your bill to progressive
nonprofits, CREDO has raised a total of $60 million so far for
causes you care about-including CODEPINK! For more information on
how it works and the organizations they support, click here.

Also, thanx for signing my petitions, et al, please consider sharing them. Also, since Admin. of change.org aren't allowing me to invite people to do my actions lately and are switching my urls for my petitions so when I invite people off their site they can't get to the petition either (ergo 3 possible urls for each petition), here's a few of my latest actions; do as few or as many as you'd like (there are 3 linx for each petition because admin. switches between the 3 of them so people trying to sign the petition can‘t get to it): This post on Disabled Greens News and discussion: Haiti disaster anniversary, please, do what you can: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DisabledGreensNews/message/9033 This petition on change.org: Haiti disaster anniversary: http://www.change.org/petitions/view/haiti_disaster_anniversary_2?share_id=yIpWHEHxri&pe=pce http://uspoverty.change.org/petitions/view/haiti_disaster_anniversary_2 http://www.change.org/petitions/view/haiti_disaster_anniversary_2 This post on Disabled Greens News and discussion: Green, Indigenous, Native American, etc., actions: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DisabledGreensNews/message/9026 This petition on change.org: Green, Indigenous, Native American, acts: http://www.change.org/petitions/view/green_indigenous_native_american_acts?share_id=NHvTtQadfP&pe=pce http://uspoverty.change.org/petitions/view/green_indigenous,_native_american_acts http://www.change.org/petitions/view/green_indigenous,_native_american_acts This post on Disabled Greens News and discussion: Art/Act: celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday, holiday: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DisabledGreensNews/message/9024 This petition on change.org: Art/Act: celebrate Dr. M.L.
