Join us at the DNC!

August 10, 2008

Dear Friend,

This summer CODEPINK will be bringing our messages of peace, justice and sustainability to the Democratic National Convention, and we invite you to join us.

http://www.codepinkalert.org/modinput4.php?modin=83

We will call for real change in the way our government conducts its business: change that saves lives, money, and safeguards the future of our children. We will stand for a just foreign policy and urge diplomacy with Iran. We will call for peace — immediate, tangible, and lively. We will work to make the world we hope for a reality.

It is critical to remind the Democratic party that in a true democracy the voices of the people are heard and their interests represented. The people have made it clear that they want to see an end to the US military occupation of Iraq and that they do not want to be dragged into another unnecessary war, in Iran or anywhere else, ever again.

Wondering why YOU (and your activist skills and PINK energy and peace presence) are needed in Denver August 25-28 at the Democratic National Convention?

Read this AWESOME article by Christian Wright (love the name) who is organizing with the Alliance for Real Democracy (ARD) on counterpunch at http://www.counterpunch.org/wright08042008.html

Check out why PINK national staff are headed to Denver by reading our quotes here!

Please join us in our actions at the DNC.

If you can’t travel to meet us, sign up with the PeaceRoom2008 team and support our efforts where you are.

Together we will work towards our vision for a more equitable and greener world.

With peace and hope,

CODEPINK Denver

Friend, can you send us some unconventional ideas?

August 8, 2008

Dear Friend,

If you could hang one banner in front of Nancy Pelosi at the upcoming Democratic National Convention, what would you want it to say? If you could chant one slogan at John McCain during the Republican National Convention, what would you want to express?

You can help us make the peace presence at the upcoming DNC and RNC conventions anything but conventional. We know you’re full of great ideas–thousands of you stepped up when we asked for your thoughts about Afghanistan, and we are so grateful for your generous insights. You can read the powerful results of that survey here. Now we need your help with the conventions–click here

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=1W3KgyLCFH6l35r4SSbPSA_3d_3d

to send us your thoughts, slogans, lyrics, visual ideas and other creative brainstorms for CODEPINK’s contribution to the DNC and RNC. If we choose one of your ideas, we’ll send you a CODEPINK water bottle!

We also need your financial help to keep our message of peace at the conventions visible and vibrant. Not only will your donations defray the cost of our giant pink slips and "I Miss America" banners–they will also give local CODEPINK coordinators who cannot afford to travel to Denver and St. Paul the opportunity to attend, and later bring what they learned back to their own communities.

Huge corporations have given over $100 million to fund the conventions. These include AT&T and Comcast, which just got congressional immunity for illegally tapping our phones; military contractors like Lockheed Martin; and dirty energy companies like Conoco Phillips (oil) and Xcel Energy (nuclear). Your funds and ideas will help counter the big business influence with the clear, honest voice of the peace movement.

Thank you for sharing your unconventional wisdom!

Alicia, Anne, Dana, Deidra, Desiree, Farida, Gael, Gayle, Jean, Jodie, Liz, Lori, Medea, Nancy, Rae and Tighe

P.S. One of our beloved local CODEPINK coordinators, Annie Katz, passed away last month. We are heartbroken that Annie will not be able to join us at the DNC/RNC–she would have loved every minute, and would have brought so much inspiration and spirit to the table. Annie’s family is honoring her memory by creating the Annie B. Katz Creative Activist Fund, which sponsors weeklong stays at the CODEPINK house for political artists. To find out more about Annie and how to contribute to the fund, please click here.

Donate to send CODEPINK local coordinators to the DNC/RNC

Send us your unconventional convention ideas!

Join us to raise a ruckus at the DNC in Denver 8/25-8/28 and RNC in St. Paul, MN 9/1-9/4

Also, thanx for signing my petitions, et al, please consider sharing them.
