CAIR Action Alert #544
Dear James,
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 8/11/2008) – Beginning on Friday, August 15, and continuing through Saturday, August 16, CAIR staff and volunteers will be calling members of the American Muslim community to help meet our current fundraising goal of $250,000. (Calls will be made between 6 and 9 p.m. (Eastern) on Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Eastern) on Saturday.)
The “Call to Success” campaign callers will highlight CAIR’s ongoing efforts to defend civil rights and to enhance understanding of Islam and the American Muslim community.
“Every donation you send to CAIR will help us help someone else,” said CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad. “Each community has an organization that people go to for help. CAIR is able to help others because of people like you. Won’t you do your part today? Be the reason for CAIR’s continued success.”
Thousands of people have been helped by CAIR. Hundreds more are being helped today. Each case CAIR takes on can cost thousands of dollars. Employment discrimination cases would normally cost thousands in attorney’s fees. A typical citizenship delay case could cost a family up to $10,000. All CAIR’s services are provided FREE OF CHARGE.
Every day, CAIR is your voice in the mainstream media.
Recently a CAIR representative went on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” to challenge the stereotyping that led to the resignation of a Muslim presidential campaign liaison.
A CAIR official also went on Fox to defend the right of a Muslim group to place advertisements about Islam in New York City subway cars.
CAIR chapter representatives nationwide appear regularly in the local media to defend the civil and legal rights of American Muslims.
CAIR-Minnesota Civil Rights Coordinator Taneeza Islam is mediating in the case of a 16-year-old Muslim girl who was denied a cashier job because of her hijab.
Please respond positively to the “Call to Success” campaign so that CAIR can continue its important work.

Nihad Awad
National Executive Director
