With just one week left in this election season the campaign to defeat Bill Sizemore’s Measure 64 is coming down to the wire and it looks to be a close one. Join Defend Oregon
as they reach out to voters to help defeat this flawed proposal. Measure 64 would silence the voices of working Oregonians by stopping public employees — nurses, teachers, firefighters and police officers — from using voluntary payroll deductions to donate to charities, unions, and other organizations. Not only will this poorly worded measure slash funding for groups like Earth Share, United Way and the Oregon Food Bank, it also has a host of unintended consequences, such as preventing groups like OLCV from having events at public locations like the Oregon Convention Center. For environmental groups the impact could be devastating. Many Oregon Conservation Network member groups rely on funding from Earth Share to help pay for the advocacy work they do. Last year, 35% or about $257,000, came to Earth Share from public employees in Oregon. Oregon is a very special place to live and work.  For decades, Earth Share groups have advocated for land use policies that preserve our farm and forest lands, for consumer
protections to keep children safe, and for transportation policy that reduces our dependence on foreign oil.  But Measure 64 would severely restrict the ability of the very organizations that have made Oregon special to carry on our longstanding history of advocacy
and education.  Measure 64 singles out working Oregonians and takes away their freedom to support organizations they believe in. It is unclear, unfair, and unnecessary. The Oregon Conservation Network asks you to please Vote NO on Measure 64, which is bad for the environment and bad for Oregon. Please spread the word by telling your friends and neighbors, and by volunteering for the No on Measure 64 campaign.

Also, thanx for signing my petitions, et al, please consider sharing them.
