Rally for Rights

Rally for Rights
November 10, 2008
Dear JAMES M,
Support equal voting rights!
Join Us: Come to the Veteran’s Day Rally for D.C. Voting Rights
Take Action: Tell Congress to pass the D.C. Voting Rights Act
Tomorrow, we will honor veterans who have served our country.
Washington, D.C., is home to thousands of American veterans who put
their lives on the line for us and the principles of a representative
democracy – principles that don’t apply to them. It is absolutely un-
American that veterans and hundreds of thousands of our fellow
citizens living in D.C. serve our country, pay taxes and yet have no
representation in Congress.
To protest this injustice and apply pressure to members of Congress
to right this wrong, we are joining other concerned citizens and
organizations at a Veteran’s Day Rally for D.C. Voting Rights
tomorrow, November 11, at noon in Upper Senate Park at Constitution
and Delaware Avenues, NE.
Please join us! If you won’t be in the D.C. area tomorrow, you can
still rally for D.C. Voting Rights! Click here to stand up for D.C.
vets and tell your members of Congress it’s high time we passed the
D.C. Voting Rights Act!
After a historic election with tremendous democratic participation,
we have an opportunity to realize the promise of our democracy.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden are strong supporters of D.C. voting
rights. Additionally, a number of senators who opposed the D.C.
Voting Rights Act (S. 1257) were replaced by potential D.C. voting
rights supporters.
It’s critical that we send a message to the incoming administration
and the new and returning members of Congress that a vote for the
veterans and taxpayers of D.C. must be a priority action early next
year.
We look forward to seeing you at the Veteran’s Day Rally tomorrow or
having your help in working with our allies in the Congress and the
White House. Victory for D.C.Vote in 2009 is possible, but we will
need your continued support to achieve it!
Thank you for all you do,
Angela, Eric, & the rest of the Congress Watch Action Team at Public
Citizen
