[CLW] Run-off Election: Defeat Chambliss in GA!
November 13, 2008
Surprise, Surprise!
The 2008 election is not quite over.
Not only are there recounts in Minnesota and Alaska Senate contests, but Georgia law mandates a runoff election on December 2 between incumbent Sen. Saxby Chambliss and progressive Jim Martin of Georgia.
We can still defeat Chambliss, the unprincipled Senator from Georgia.
Your dollars still matter in this critical race. Click here to donate now!
We told you a few weeks back about the dirty campaign Chambliss ran back in 2002 – even John McCain called it “reprehensible.” But, your support for Martin helped put him just 3 points behind Chambliss in a once reliable state for the GOP, close enough warrant a run-off election. A libertarian candidate won the remaining votes.
Conservative hawks from around the country are flocking to Georgia to make sure that this seat stays in their hands. Expect to see Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin and John McCain overrunning Georgia to keep Chambliss in power, even if he doesn’t deserve it.
They know that every vote will count in the 2009 Senate. They know that Jim Martin wants to end the war in Iraq, reduce nuclear weapons stockpiles, and ratify the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. They also know that Chambliss will vote against Barack Obama every step of the way.
Help Martin win this critical run-off election and boot Chambliss out of power.
Jim Martin’s victory in this race would be the biggest upset of this election. With the success of so many progressive candidates around the country, that’s saying a lot.
Neo-cons will do everything they can in the final weeks of this race to send Chambliss back to the Senate. How much will we progressives do to stop him?
Show them.
