Let’s Keep Microfinance Strong
For millions of the world’s poor, access to microfinance has thus far protected them from the most severe effects of the global recession. And while the microfinance industry has held up where the mainstream financial industry has collapsed, it is threatened by the same credit and liquidity crisis faced by the rest of the economy. Show your support by learning more about how ACCION supports microfinance and the world’s poor.

Goal: A Roof Over Every Head
Shelter brings invaluable benefits, including safety and good health. Unfortunately, it is estimated that in the next 30 years two billion people – close to one third of the world’s population – will be living in slums. Housing microfinance offers one attempt to meet the housing needs of the poor. ACCION has been working with several of its partners in Latin America and Africa to find permanent answers to the problem of inadequate shelter. And now, ACCION’s Center for Financial Inclusion offers you podcasts and blog posts that highlight private-sector organizations that are tackling the problem in innovative ways.
Are You Doing Something Wrong?
As a part of ACCION’s community of supporters, chances are you would pass Peter Singer’s most recent ethical test, which he explains in his new book, The Life You Can Save.  The famous Princeton bioethicist argues that the world’s haves are not doing enough to prevent the suffering of the world’s have-nots. He proposes a new public standard for charitable giving and invites people to take a pledge and change the popular perception of what it means to live an ethical life. Learn more about the book here.
